About Jennifer Murck

Jennifer Murck is a Washington, DC based, contemporary abstract artist. Her artwork reflects what it means to be human and the complex journey that is life.

A self taught artist, Jennifer has developed a unique style full of gestures and mixed media materials. She often paints over the same painting 5 or 6 times until all of the layers sing. She embraces the odd brush stroke or random drop of paint as a reflection of the imperfections that make life meaningful.

Jennifer’s background is in psychology and environmental education, so you’ll see threads of those topics weaving their way thru her work.

A lifelong lover of textile, Jennifer spent several years learning the craft of textile design. This led to her authoring the popular blog, Swatch & Repeat. You can find articles from that blog inventoried here on the site. Should you decide to take a look, you’ll find a variety of lovely stories about artists from across the globe.

  • I love to read (I know - old school). My favorite genres? Cozy Mysteries, historical fiction, and health.

  • I take tap dance lessons and am thinking about taking modern dance. And no, you won’t find me at a recital any time soon.
