Hello friends!

Happy Labor Day to all of my American friends! I hope you are enjoying the day off and are finding some time to just rest and relax.

I'm actually gearing-up right now to start writing the blog again after a lovely month-long break. The first summer after starting the blog I didn't take a break, even though I was in the middle of a cross-country move. I was worried that if I took a break I'd lose readers, or just get lazy and never blog again.

But this year I just knew that I needed a break, that I needed time to rest my brain and recharge. Blogging had started to turn into a burden and I could feel deep down to my bones that my creative life was shifting and that I needed to give whatever it was space to unfold.

So, I took a leap and decided to take the month of August off. And you know what? It was a great decision. I now feel reenergized and bubbling over with ideas for moving the blog forward in a way that makes sense for me.Going forward, I won't be blogging quite as often, and won't be posting articles that are as long (read: require a ton of editing). But I will be rolling out fun new topics and will start approaching my interviews from what I think is a great new angle.

So, what can you look forward to this fall?

  • The continuation of Gin's Journey. I think what Gin writes is so powerful, and I love that we can follow along with her as she works towards finding a creative life that is both fulfilling and sustainable. I think all of us can relate to her story.

  • The addition of a new makers series with Elena from 'Pine Tree Pop-up'. A few times a year I'll be featuring one of the makers Elena works with. We'll learn about their creative process and how they bring their crafts to market.

  • A new approach to designer interviews titled 'In Clear Focus'. I don't know if this will turn into a regular thing, but recently I've thought it might be fun to approach the designer interview in a different way. I'm going to experiment with having artists talk about themselves and their process through the lens of one of their favorite pieces of artwork. I'm excited to see how this unfolds.

  • A new diary series. At this point I'm just starting to think about how this will work. However, I would love to pop in every now and then with a short note, or shall I say 'diary entry' where I tell you a bit about how my creative life is changing and growing. A lot of you know that I've started devoting a lot more time to abstract painting, and I'd love to share with you what that has been like. As well, I've just started working on exercises in "The Artists Way" by Julia Cameron and am hoping to highlight for you some of what I'm learning.

So that's it. I'm nothing if not ambitious! I look forward to connecting with all of you lovely readers again and as always I'm so so thrilled to have you along for the ride.
